Keto is for a long time. It is not a diet but a way of life. I have written about this many times. Choosing a time before long holidays to enter keto is not a good idea unless you plan on staying in ketosis during holidays.

Whether to stay or not is an individual matter! I'll tell you what I did. And I tried to stay and go out. In general, this article is full of repentance and experience.

How it all began or "I managed to start a ketogenic diet for weight loss just before my birthday"

I first started learning about keto a few years ago. It was the beginning of winter and it took several months to theory and draw up the right menu.

After reading a mountain of literature, studying research, I came to the conclusion - it's time! And spring has come.

My birthday is in the spring. Coincidentally, it was an anniversary! But I'm stubborn. I decided - go ahead! And I started my keto path 3 weeks before my anniversary. Not a good time.

Having a birthday while staying in ketosis was fun. Have you ever seen a fanatically convinced person? So here I am, that's exactly what I was. Fanatical, because I wanted to convince others that I was right. Even if they didn't need it.

The birthday was strange. I didn’t drink, because I read that adaptation with a sick liver is not desirable. I didn't eat carbohydrates and explained why.

I also tried very hard to convince my guests to give up fast carbs. Stupid? Yes. It was funny, naive, and stupid.

Only now I understand it. Probably every keto adept should go through the stage - “I will dedicate the whole world to my faith! How can they not understand this! I'll tell them all! "

I think a lot of people thought that I was crazy but oh well.
    • I am sure that any holiday can be spent in ketosis
    • I realized that I don't need to tell everyone about my diet
    • Others, absolutely do not care what you eat, if you do not talk about it

How to stay in ketosis during holidays?

Nothing really complicated. If you are celebrating in a Cafe, then you should check some articles on, in which keto followers described in detail the selection of dishes in restaurants.

If you cook at home, then there are many keto recipes that will help you. So that others do not remain surprised at the strangeness of the feast, just add side dishes to keto dishes and there will be a regular festive table. Maybe even tastier.

Maybe it's better to interrupt keto for holidays?

And there was such an experience too. After almost a year on a strict ketogenic diet, I deliberately left the regimen. The reason was - New Year.

I will not say that I was really looking forward to getting out of ketosis. By that time, there was no longer dependence on sweets and carbohydrates as such. I became a fan of this eating style after learning the many benefits of the keto diet. Why did I go out?

Reasons for interrupting the keto diet:
    • I have achieved my health and weight loss goals
    • I wanted to know what will happen after. This is described in a separate article
    • Everything ends someday

How did I get out of the ketogenic regime?

I ate a lot of sweets, and surprisingly, for me, it was not very tasty. Because sugar, I haven't eaten for two years. After a long keto, all sweets become lusciously nasty.

Of course, I got a digestive upset right off the bat. The body began to readjust to a different diet. This is natural, but not pleasant.

Was it worth going out? Maybe yes. If you don't try, you won't know! Interestingly, I managed to get back into ketosis very quickly. An adapted organism is easily reconstructed from carbohydrate to fatty foods.

And then I did it differently. Depending on the circumstances and mood.

If I could stay in the regime, I stayed. If not, then I left without a drop of regret! I already knew that at any moment I would come back and nothing would happen.

Of course, this is only applicable for non-medical ketosis and only for adapted keto lovers

Whether you want to stay or leave keto is up to you. Just ask yourself: "Which is more important, keto or a holiday?" Honestly answering this question, go for it. The worst thing you can do is ruin both ketosis and a holiday at the same time.

Trying to keep the regime and pull sweets off the table with a sense of guilt is a mistake. Enjoy your holiday! If you succeed, remaining in ketosis - a double plus and your personal victory.

For nearly a hundred years, scientists have been researching a method to slow down aging by reducing dietary calorie intake.

The mechanisms of this phenomenon are still under discussion, but it seems that it is based on a shift in metabolic processes from carbohydrate metabolism
